Rome, the Eternal City, is a captivating blend of ancient history, vibrant culture, and culinary delights. Wander through its cobblestone streets to discover historic marvels on every corner. Rome’s culinary scene is a feast for the senses, featuring classic dishes such as carbonara, cacio e pepe, and Roman-style pizza, all complemented by gelato and espresso. 1) Yellow Square Hostel
One of the most popular hostels for a reason! It’s super fun and social atmosphere located close to Rome’s main train station Rome Termini. The hostel has it’s own underground bar known for being one of the most affordable in the city as well as offering food all day and co-working space.
Cost: €70-80/night in peak season and €45-60/night off-peak.





Things to See & Do – Rome
In terms of sightseeing and monuments, I would consider Rome the greatest sightseeing city in the world. Enriched with history evident on every corner as you walked the cobblestone streets. Rome is an immersive journey through time, where ancient history and vibrant modern culture seamlessly blend.

What to eat? – Rome
Italian cuisine is iconic all around the world and is regarded by many as their favourite cuisine. There’s many different delicious meals and varieties of pasta, pizza and much more. Here I will recommend the top dishes that are traditionally Roman you can try when in the city.
1) Carbonara Pasta
A classic Roman pasta made with eggs, Pecorino Romano cheese, guanciale (cured pork cheek), and black pepper.
Tip: Try Carbonara at Nannarella, Tonnarello or Rosciolo near Campo de’ Fiori.

2) Supplí
Fried rice balls filled with mozzarella, often containing a ragu sauce. Similar to Arancini in Sicily
Tip: Try these tasty snacks at Supplizio near Campo de’ Fiori.

3) Saltimbocca alla Romana
Veal topped with prosciutto and sage, cooked in white wine and butter.
Tip: Sample this traditional dish at Ristorante Piperno or Giggetto in the Jewish Ghetto.

4) Cacio e Pepe Pasta
A simple yet flavorful pasta dish made with Pecorino Romano cheese and black pepper.
Tip: Try it at Da Enzo al 29 in Trastevere or Osteria da Fortunata for an authentic taste.

5) Amatriciana Pasta
Pasta with a spicy tomato sauce, guanciale, and Pecorino Romano cheese.
Tip: Head to Trattoria Da Teo in Trastevere or Osteria da Fortunata for a mouthwatering plate of amatriciana.

6) Gricia
Often called the “white amatriciana,” this pasta dish features guanciale, Pecorino Romano cheese, and black pepper, but without tomato.
Tip: Enjoy a perfect gricia at Osteria da Fortunata or Armando al Pantheon.

Where to eat? – Rome
1) Nannarella or Tonnarello
These sister restaurant are a must-visit in Rome. They were recommended to me by a local Roman friend, tasted and verified by myself. Located in the vibrant Trastevere neighbourhood, both spots offer an authentic Roman dining experience with the same great menu, I recommend booking before but if there’s a line, it’s worth the wait.
The pasta come served to you in a pan and it’s the bets spot in the city for Carbonara pasta and a their famous Tiramisu which is to die for.



2) Osteria da Fortunata
Located near Campo de’ Fiori best known for its homemade pasta made from scratch, as well as providing a cozy and authentic Italian dining experience. They have an Italian Nonna set up in the middle of the restaurant preparing pasta by hand, adding a special touch to the experience. They specialise in all Roman style Pasta’s (Eg. Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, Amatriciana, Gricia)

3) Al 34
Located near the Spanish Steps, Al 34 is a cozy restaurant that serves a range of classic Roman dishes. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxed meal after exploring the nearby sights.

4) Giggetto
Giggetto is famous for its traditional Roman-Jewish dishes, including fried artichokes (carciofi alla giudia). The restaurant offers a unique blend of flavours that reflect Rome’s diverse culinary heritage. It is located in the Jewish Ghetto, a historic and culturally rich part of Rome.


5) La Romana Gelateria
La Romana Gelateria offers the finest gelato in Rome and the world in my opinion. Expertly crafted from scratch and all made in house every day. Each flavour on the menu is guaranteed satisfaction with a perfectly creamy and delicious texture that is a perfect treat any time of day. If you’re looking for the best Gelato in Rome, this is definitely it!

1) Train
Italy has an amazing train system which can connect you to almost every city in the country. Trains are one of the most efficient ways to move around the country for an affordable price.
Train companies such as TrenItalia & RailItalia are excellent options.
2) Bus
Buses are also another excellent way to move around the country and with many routes available and affordable options such as FlixBus


To Italian Islands
1) Plane
Rome has 2 main airports you can fly from, the most popular being Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino (FCO) and the second being Ciampino Airport (CIA).
2) Boat
You could also travel to islands such as Sarinia and Sicily by boat which is longer in travel time. Departure from ports near Rome are Civitavecchia Port and Fiumicino Port.
