Nicaragua
One of the best countries in Central America in terms of beauty, variety and value for money! It offers everything from surfy beach towns in San Juan del Sur, green landscapes, volcanic terrains and hikes in Ometepe, colonial architecture in Granada but most importantly, friendly people everywhere.
Often referred to as the cheaper version of Costa Rica, Nicaragua offers its own unique culture and experiences and yes of course much more affordable than its southern neighbour. This country certainly offers enough variety and lifestyle to see yourself posting up here for a while and I will show you the main highlights of this stunning country starting from South the North.
San Juan del Sur
This colourful beachside party town is endeared by many backpackers worldwide who seek beautiful beaches, surfing laid back vibes during the day and parties at night. This is an ideal location for any backpacker seeking a good time on an affordable budget.

2. Sunday Funday – Pool Crawl
An iconic theme that’s been running weekly in this town is their Sunday Funday Pool Crawl. I heard a lot about this before arriving here but unfortunately couldn’t line up my schedule to experience it.
It is essentially a massive pool party crawl between hostels that happens every Sunday catered to backpackers with cheap drinks and hopping between hostels with a big group of travellers, drinking, dancing and socialising all the way.
It starts at Pachamama Hostel and costs $25 USD which includes, a souvenir tank top, entrance to 5 bars, free shots upon arrival at each, transportation from the final destination at Naked Tiger.
